Round 3 November 18, 2017
Tri-Cities vs. Vancouver Chess School 2, 4.5-4.5 DRAW!!
Down by a point heading into the third round, the team played well and made its two White pieces count. 2-1. David Bissell actually had a great position. He could have taken a draw but kept fighting which is the way chess should be played. Dejan Radic made his team debut. Sherry played well again.
The league continues in December.
Round 4 January 13, 2018
Tri-Cities vs. Lightning 7-2 win!!
This was our strongest line-up by rating. NM Marek Radzikowski 2235 (USA), NCM Vas Sladek 2159, David Bissell 1727 CFC but this isn't accurate, David is much stronger. With the exception of one blunder, the team played well against our young opponents.
Round 1: 2.5-0.5; Round 2: 1.5-1.5; Round 3: 3-0.
Round 5 January 20, 2018
Tri-Cities vs Vancouver Chess School team 1 1-8 LOSS!! I couldn't play and David sat out so Len Molden came to play. VCS1 brought out the big gun, BC Champion and FM Tanraj Sohal. We are back in fourth place and next face the Ultra Salmons.
Round 6 February 3, 2018
Tri-Cities vs. Ultra Salmons 7-2 WIN! (2-1, 3-0, 2-1) NCM Vas Sladek 3/3 Sherry Tian (BC women's champion) 2/2 David Bissell 1/1 Len Molden 1/3 |
Round 7 February 24, 2018
Tri-Cities vs. VCS3 6-3 WIN!!
Tri-Cities finished the season in third place! That was the goal in this last round. Luckily, David Bissell was on fire as he disposed of the low-rated juniors with impressive efficiency. Lan and I struggled. I escaped with a first round draw; Len lost twice. But it's OK, we achieved our goal. Finishing 3rd is a big deal.
Play-offs April 7, 2018
Tri-Cities vs VCS2. VCS2 is powered by Master DavaaOchir Nyamdorj who almost won the 2018 BC Open.
