5/2/2017 0 Comments Chess player milestones!Chess players lucky enough to improve their game reach different milestones during their playing years. Becoming a chess club champion is one of them. I came close second once in North Vancouver behind National Master Joe Oszvald. Then in 2005, I finally did it. I had to get through a huge flex double round robin to do it. It took a few months but I achieved this huge milestone. See trophy below.
When club president Chris Dickson moved to Maple Ridge, the Royal City Chess Club in New Westminster folded. Chess club champions are usually rated over 2000. My plan now is to organize regular, rapid and blitz championships at our Port Coquitlam chess club. That way more players can reach their milestones.
