31/7/2018 0 Comments Simul night at the clubThis was my dream, to have special events and tournaments held at the club. So imagine my surprise when I walked in for my scheduled chess lesson and saw chess expert Robert North playing a simultaneous against five club members. Brilliant!! My student Garrick Chu was the last man standing but in the end Mr. North scored 5-0. Expect to see new tournaments happening soon and come join us!

Coaching new students is always fun and it starts with assessment. So, recently I played a training game with my new student and pictured below is a diagram from our game. White to play (Level: easy!) Solution: 1.Qxc8 mate since the black bishop is pinned. Remember tactics and practice because it can win you games. |
